NPPC bade farewell to Dr. Namgay Om, the Plant Protection Specialist of the Centre

The National Plant Protection Centre bade farewell to Dr. Namgay Om to her esteemed career in civil service, it is with a mix of emotions that we gather to express our gratitude and appreciation for her remarkable contributions over the past 25 years. Her journey from an Assistant Research Officer to a distinguished Plant Protection Specialist at the National Plant Protection Centre is a testament to her unwavering dedication, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Namgay Om’s journey began in 1999 when she embarked on her civil service career, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise in agriculture, nurtured through her bachelor’s degree from the University of Los Banos (UPLB), Philippines. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue further studies, earning a master’s degree from the University of Florida, USA, and ultimately culminating in a Ph.D. in Agricultural (Plant Protection) from Western Sydney University, Australia. Throughout her academic pursuits, she consistently demonstrated a commitment to advancing her field and enriching her understanding of plant protection methodologies.

During her tenure, Dr. Namgay Om played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of plant protection in our country. Her research initiatives, innovative strategies, and insightful recommendations have significantly contributed to safeguarding our agricultural resources and enhancing food security. Her dedication to excellence and tireless efforts have not only enriched the field of plant protection but have also inspired countless colleagues and future generations of agricultural professionals.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Namgay Om’s warmth, humility, and collaborative spirit have left an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of working with her. Her willingness to share knowledge, mentorship, and support have fostered a culture of growth and camaraderie within our organization.

As Dr. Namgay Om embarks on a new chapter of her journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her years of service, leadership, and friendship. Mrs. Yeshey Dema

Mrs. Yeshey Dema joined the civil service on 26th February 1996. She headed the Soil Fertility Unit, NSSC from 2008 till 2013. In 2013, she was transferred to the National Plant Protection Centre as the Program Director. She holds M. Phil in Soil Science from the University of Reading, UK.
