A group of 15 new recruits who are embarking on a journey as an Agriculture extension supervisors visited the National Plant Protection Centre on 10/07/2023 as a part of an orientation Program. The visit aimed to introduce them to the vital work conducted by the Center and shed light on its vision, mission and mandates. The recruits gathered with an eager anticipation as the Program Director of the Centre took the stage.
With passion and enthusiasm, the Program Director began by sharing valuable insights into the NPPC’s purpose and significance in the realm of agriculture. During the presentation, the Program Director elaborated on the center’s vision, mission and mandate, emphasizing its role in safeguarding plant health, promoting sustainable agriculture, and protecting the nation’s crops from pests and diseases. Following the presentation, the recruits visited the National Plant Protection Referral Laboratory, an integral component of the NPPC. The National Plant Protection Referral Laboratory is equipped with facilities and technology, making it a national center of excellence for addressing plant diseases, pests, and other threats to agricultural productivity.
