The Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dasho Thinley Namgyel visited the National Plant Protection Centre today. The Program Director of NPPC made a small presentation on the Centre’s vision, mission, challenges and opportunities to the Secretary. The Dasho made comments on the challenges expressed by the Program Director. The Dasho advised that as per the changing agricultural situations in the country, there is need for amendment in Centre’s mandates. Regarding the issue of budget constraints, Dasho advised the Centre and the Planning and Policy Division to work together to secure funds to carry out the plant protection activities. The Dasho mentioned that the requirement for the specialised human resources at the Centre will be discussed with Royal Civil Service Commission. The Dasho then visited the Pathology and Entomology laboratories.
