The National Plant Protection Centre (NPPC) held a welcoming event for seven new staff members into the Centre. The group includes five newly appointed staff and two individuals who were transferred from other agencies. As part of the orientation program, the Centre organized an informative and engaging program to familiarize the new staff with the Centre’s mission, mandates, and essential procedures for fieldwork in Plant protection.
The event began with a brief welcome address by the Program Director, highlighting the Centre’s significance in protecting national plant health and providing services to the agricultural sector. The Program was then followed by series of presentations from each technical Program of the Centre. The presentations included Mandates of each Program, Program highlights from 12th Five Year Plan, ongoing activities, upcoming activities and HR strength of each Program.
The event was followed by a seminar focused on best practices for field investigations into plant problems by Dr. Thinlay, a retired civil servant with an experienced professional in the field of plant health and protection. Dr. Thinlay’s seminar was designed to prepare staff for real-world applications of their roles, emphasizing the importance of effective fieldwork. The orientation program was a success, providing new staff with a comprehensive introduction to the Centre’s mission, different technical Programs and fieldwork procedures.
