Regional Plant Protection Officers, Gewog Agriculture Officers and Farmers are advised to stay alert for wheat rust (stripe, leaf and stem rust). No outbreaks are confirmed yet, but weather conditions favour disease development, especially in southern and western districts.
Action points:
• Inspect fields weekly.
• Watch for yellow/orange stripes or brown/red pustules on leaves and stems.
• Report symptoms to Dzongkhag or NPPC immediately.
• Follow official fungicide advice if detected.
High vigilance areas: Southern belt districts including Samtse, Sarpang, Tsirang, Chhukha and Dagana.
Early detection is key to preventing spread and yield loss.
