Management of Lichens in Apple orchard

Tree lichens appear on many trees. In Bhutan it is found growing abundantly in Apple orchards. It tends to grown more in poorly managed orchards. They are considered either a fortunate blessing or a frustrating pest. Lichens on trees are unique and harmless but vigorously growing lichens may cover up the branches and young shoots which may cause drying of branches and reduce photosynthesis and fruiting.
